Around San Francisco: Alameda Flea Market

This past Sunday the group went to the Alameda Flea Market.

The Alameda Point Antiques and Collectibles Faire is Northern California's largest antiques and collectibles show. We have over 800 outdoor dealers selling their merchandise on the first Sunday of every month at the former Alameda Point Naval Air Station in Alameda, California. Everything sold at our show must be at least twenty years old and there are no reproductions allowed.

I am a little sad to say that I did not take that many photos.

Where would you like to see your craft, hobby, business go this year: I would love for my blog to just continue evolving. I love the direction it's going in right now, and I can't wait to see where it ends up.

Current Obsession: Chick Fil-A. I'm a little addicted. 

Secret People Don't know about you: I've played guitar for about five years, but I'm still a horrible singer. :)

What made you want to start your shop/blog/website: I originally started my blog to have an easy way for friends and family to keep up with my latest doings. It kind of just evolved from there!

How would you describe what you sell/blog: I mainly blog about crafts, visual inspiration, scrapbooking, my kitten, and my boyfriend. :)

What are some of your favorite blog, websites, artist: I love Scrap In Style TV, The One in Pink Blog, Pen Addict, and of course a TON of other blogs.

Erin's Tree House Bedroom

Happy Thursday!

As part of Meet Me on Thursday, I thought I'd share photos of my favorite place to sleep, lounge, and knit -- my woodsy tree house bedroom. Will you join me for a little tour?

I'm lucky enough to occupy the back room (or sun room) of a lovely Victorian in San Francisco, just a few blocks away from the other Robots. :)

The back wall is adorned with bird & branch decals from Blik. I highly recommend this company; the decals have been up for over two years, and they still look great! In fact, people always ask me if I painted the walls myself. ;)

On the side wall, you'll find a little squirrel perched on tree shelves from The Curiosity Shoppe. (Don't you love that place? I do.)

At some point I decided it was time to get serious, so I custom ordered these magical feltidermy from girlsavage on Etsy. (My photo isn't great, sorry.) I love them so much!

I found these owlies at a thrift store in Santa Cruz. That was an exciting day!

In this photo you can see a hint of my dress collection, which I'll save for the subject of a future post. It's true that my closet isn't very big but -- to quote William Shakespeare -- though she be but little, she is fierce! Watch out.

So what's missing from my bedroom wonderland??

I admit that the woodsy/forest/faux-bois thing has been overplayed and over-overplayed, but I still can't get enough! If you have suggestions for more woodsy cuteness, let me know! I'd love to see your finds and hear your ideas. :)

I should be working. Once again my to-do-list is longer then I would like it to be. My weekend in packed with birthday stuff for Erin. It is going to be so fun! Aside, from the birthday fun- I have a lot to get done.

What made you want to start your shop/blog/website: I started my blog after months of reading others because it looked fun I never imagined all the wonderful people that my little blog has connected me too!

How would you describe what you sell/blog: my blog is a personal blog about my life, family and what not. In my shop I sell varies items from my hand drawn embroidery, wooden clothes pin dolls and jewelery to vintage items.

Favorite Item in your shop currently: My embroidered necklaces are really cute but I am currently working on felt play food that I am really adoring  :D

Meet Me on Thursday with Laurel: Li'l Monsters

Hello and happy Thursday! It's Laurel and I like Monsters!

I've been making some Mini-Monsters on commission lately, and thought I'd share the results with you!

One of the questions I get all the time (as do the other Robots) is "Why don't you make childrens' items?"
Well, I suppose I do! On commission, and so far when the hoodies are provided for me (children come in so many sizes!).

But the main reason is one of the reasons Viv and I started Polka Dot Robot in the first place: 

Children have a monopoly on cute! When you go into a children's store, everything is cute and adorable! Not so much when you shop for yourself.  So at Polka Dot Robot we want to make amazing, quirky, whimsical, one of a kind items for amazing, quirky, whimsical, one of a kind people like you! 

That being said, maybe PDR will expand to doing children's goods in the future, and if you are super excited about anything you see here and would like a kids or baby hoodie (or an adult sized shark!), contact me at laurel@polkadotrobot.com, and we can put together something special!

Monday and Tuesday really sucked for me. This is the letter I wrote to the lovely Tuesday.

Dear Tuesday, I wanted to thank you for the broken umbrella, the jalapeno in the eye, the bump on my head from the shelf that just appeared. Thank you for the slow work computer, the stressful emails, the cracked iphone. I would also like to thank you in advanced for any other F-ed up thing you will bring my way today. What made you want to start your shop/blog/website: I started the shop as a way to challenge my creativity and help pay bills. I started my blog as a way to share my life with friends.

How would you describe what you sell/blog: Well, I blog about what I feel, like, and experience. So, I pretty much blog my life. I love my readers and sincerely love each comment I get. It's so fun to interact with everyone! I sell prints of some of my favorite photos and I sell little creations here and there. :)

Favorite Item in your shop currently: Probably the "When The Wind Blows" painting/print that my sister made. It is so beautiful. She is super talented! I also love the snowflake braided headband I made. :)

What are some of your favorite blog, websites, artist: Well, I love anything Will. There are so so many people who inspire me every day. I couldn't possibly name them all.
